How can we help?
Answers to the most common questions about Mapmate. If yours isn’t here, write to us — a real person reads every message.
Getting started
“We couldn’t find @username”
Check the spelling. Type the username exactly as it appears on the profile — the @ is optional, and you can also paste a link to the profile. If the account was renamed recently, use the new username.
“@username is private”
Mapmate works only with public data. Make the account public in Instagram, then try again. Accounts that hide their follower list can’t be mapped either.
“More than 10,000 followers”
For now Mapmate supports accounts with up to 10,000 followers. If an account grows past that, Mapmate keeps showing its last update but can’t refresh it.
“You’ve added 3 new accounts today”
Mapmate is made for your own account, so you can add up to three new usernames a day. Try again tomorrow.
My first map is taking a while
Mapmate reads your followers, the accounts you follow, your recent posts and their likes. For big accounts this takes up to 15 minutes. You can leave the app — the work continues, and your map is ready when you come back.
Your map
When does my map update?
Every 8 hours. Open Mapmate after that and it refreshes on its own. If you pull to refresh earlier, Mapmate shows when the next update is due.
Why are Unfollowed and New followers empty?
Tracking starts on the day you add your account, so changes appear after the next update, in about 8 hours. Mapmate can’t show who unfollowed you before that.
Why don’t I see fans or my inner circle?
These groups depend on likes on your recent posts. If your account has no posts yet, Mapmate shows who follows you back and who doesn’t instead. If likes are still being counted, the groups appear as soon as they’re ready.
Someone seems to be in the wrong group
Sometimes only part of a list is available at the moment of an update. Mapmate tells you when this happens, and people move to the right group after the next update.
“Can’t reach Mapmate”
Check your internet connection and try again. Until the connection is back, Mapmate shows your last update.
How do I change the username?
Open Settings → Change username. The map on your iPhone is replaced with the map of the new username.
Subscription
I paid, but Mapmate Pro isn’t active
It can take a minute for a new subscription to be confirmed. Wait a moment and tap Check again. If it still isn’t active, tap Restore purchases on the paywall or in Settings. If a family organizer has to approve the purchase, Mapmate unlocks as soon as it’s approved.
How do I restore my purchase on a new iPhone?
Sign in with the same Apple Account you used to subscribe, open Mapmate and tap Restore purchases in Settings or on the paywall.
How do I cancel?
On your iPhone, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Mapmate → Cancel Subscription, or tap Manage subscription in Mapmate’s settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel a subscription.
How do I get a refund?
Payments are handled by Apple, so only Apple can issue refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Why don’t the prices load?
Prices come straight from the App Store. Check your connection, make sure you’re signed in to the App Store, and try again.
Privacy and data
Do you need my Instagram password?
Never. Mapmate only needs a public username and never signs in to your account. If anyone asks for your password on behalf of Mapmate, it isn’t us.
How do I delete my data?
Open Settings → Delete my data and confirm. Your usernames and their history are removed from your iPhone right away and from our server shortly after. Your subscription stays active until you cancel it.
